I am sitting here on my patio in the 93 degree heat anticipating the summer ahead and hoping we don't experience the hot temperatures of last summer only for the safety of the flowers and the temperament of the Seattle natives (most of us don't do vey well in the high heat).
The weather, however, does bring back some beautiful memories of a wedding I worked on the last weekend of April. April can be challenging with the weather, but you could not have asked for a more perfect day - the sun was out, not a cloud in the sky and the breeze calm making for perfect sailing conditions. Angela and Tom were married on the Schooner Zodiac Sailboat based out of Bellingham, Washington. I loved Angelas style, the free flowing bouquets incorporating a lot of greenery, peonies, branches and a variety of local spring time flowers. Garland surrounded the entire length of the boat as well as the cabin inside. I was even able to design a "chandelier" to hang above the table in the gallery.
Although I had talked to Angela at length about the details in her wedding, for some reason I anticipated a more casual feel to the day, so was pleasantly surprised to see the bridesmaids in long elegant dresses in varying shades of blush. Gloves from Angela's grandmother were attached to the bouquet adding a special touch. Angela was stunning in her dress made by Houghton from the Dress Theory. It was a beautiful and elegant affair. I also was able to make my first official dog collar for their adorable white lab Oakley who was also on the boat for the ceremony. I wish my dog would be well enough behaved to attend a wedding, but that is another story.
Miguel Cornelio from Momentus Images captured the day perfectly. My husband and I sat and watched the sailboat depart knowing it was going to be a fun evening ahead for the guests. When it returned later that evening, guests were wearing the yellow raincoats presented to them by Angela and Tom - and although not raining, I am sure offered some warmth to the cool spring evening.
Of course a wedding filled with so many details needs the help of a coordinator and Kaity from Love Blooms Wedding & Event Design was able to bring all the details together to create a fabulous celebration for Angela and Tom.
Thank you Angela and Tom for allowing me to be part of your special day and Miguel from Momentus Images for capturing the day so perfectly. Of course, I really think at this point I need to say - "And they sailed off into the sunset, happily ever after" just because it seems appropriate. Look for this wedding to be published soon on Style Me Pretty in the next few weeks!
